VANAF 1 OKTOBER 2023 KAN JE STARTEN MET JE AANMELDING!
Belangrijk: de deadline voor het inleveren van je aanmeldformulier is woensdag 13 december 2023 voor 16:00 uur (CET).
Het tweejarig IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) op één van de 18 UWC scholen en colleges wereldwijd staat gelijk aan 5 en 6 vwo in Nederland. UWC Nederland selecteert ieder jaar leerlingen met een band met Nederland op basis van motivatie en potentieel. Hierdoor krijgt iedereen een kans, en spelen culturele, politieke, religieuze of sociaaleconomische achtergrond geen rol. Leerlingen die in 4 en 5 vwo/gymnasium, 5 havo, MYP5, DP1 of vergelijkbare schoolsystemen en/of niveaus zitten kunnen zich aanmelden voor de tweejarige IBDP-opleiding op UWC.
Om je via het selectieproces van UWC Nederland aan te melden, moet je voldoen aan enkele basiscriteria:
Nationaliteit
Een herkenbare band met Nederland (het Caribische deel van het Koninkrijk valt ook onder het Nederlands Nationaal Comité).
Dit betekent dat je dit jaar moet voldoen aan het volgende:
- Nederlandse nationaliteit
- óf de laatste 3 jaar woonachtig geweest op Nederlands grondgebied. Leerlingen uit het Caribische deel van Nederland kunnen zich aanmelden via UWC Nederland;
- óf als je recentelijk politiek asiel gekregen hebt in Nederland.
- EN de Nederlandse taal machtig bent, met uitzondering:
- als je recentelijk politiek asiel hebt gekregen;
- of inwoner bent van Curaçao, St. Maarten, Bonaire, Aruba, St. Eustatius of Saba;
- of de Nederlandse nationaliteit hebt, maar in het buitenland bent opgegroeid en naar school gaat.
Bij doorgang naar de selectiedagen zullen alle onderdelen (groepsactiviteiten en de interviews) in het Nederlands plaatsvinden. Uitzonderingen worden gemaakt voor leerlingen die geen Nederlands spreken omdat ze recentelijk asiel hebben gekregen, omdat ze afkomstig zijn uit het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk of de Nederlandse nationaliteit hebben maar in het buitenland zijn opgegroeid en naar school gaan (zie punt 2a 2b en 2c hier boven). In dat geval zal de selectie in het Engels plaatsvinden. Wel kunnen kandidaten gevraagd worden om onderdelen (deels) in het Nederlands of een deel van het proces in een kleine groep uit te voeren, omdat er niet voldoende kandidaten, dan wel vrijwilligers zijn, die de Engelse taal voldoende machtig zijn.
Cijfers
Cijfers moeten voldoen aan het volgende:
- Cijfergemiddelde van minstens een 6,5/10* (vwo/gymnasium) of 7,0/10* (havo) of 5/8 of 4/7 (MYP/DP) op zowel het laatste overgangsrapport als het meest recente rapport.
- Maximaal 2 onvoldoendes per rapport
- Onvoldoendes mogen niet lager zijn dan een 5 op havo/vwo/gymnasium of een 3 op MYP/DP.
- Geen onvoldoende voor Engels, wiskunde en Nederlands.
- Engels, wiskunde en Nederlands zijn verplichte vakken voor een aanmelding bij UWC (met uitzondering voor internationale scholen waar geen Nederlands gedoceerd wordt). Hiermee toetsen we de algemene intelligentie en begrijpend lezen in je moedertaal.
*6,5/10 betekent een 6,5 op een cijferbereik van 1-10 waarbij 10 het hoogste cijfer is en 1 het laagste. Dit geldt ook voor 7,0/10.
Leeftijd
Je bent 16 of 17 jaar oud op 1 september van het jaar van aanvang op een college. Ook voor UWC Waterford Kamhlaba in eSwatini, waar het schooljaar loopt vanaf januari, geldt 1 september van het jaar voorafgaand aan de aanvang op het college.
Alleen kandidaten die maximaal 1 maand te jong of te oud zijn kunnen zich toch aanmelden. Ben je meer dan 1 maand te oud, neem dan contact op met info@uwc.nl. Ben je meer dan 1 maand te jong, dan zal je niet toegelaten worden tot de selectieprocedure.
Voor een aanmelding voor de schooljaren 2024-2026 moet je dus geboren zijn tussen 1 augustus 2006 & 30 september 2008!

UWC has 18 schools and colleges around the world. The educational model at UWC is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which is comparable to 5 and 6 vwo in the Netherlands. Each year UWC Netherlands selects students with a recognized connection to the Netherlands based on motivation and potential. This gives everyone a chance to be selected. Since we want every applicant to have equal opportunities, cultural, political, religious or social economic backgrounds do not play a role in the selection process. Students who are in 4 and 5 vwo/gymnasium, 5 havo, MYP5, DP1 or similar school systems and/or levels may apply for the two-year IBDP program at UWC.
To apply through the UWC Nederland selection process, you must meet several criteria:
Nationality:
You must have a recognized connection with the Netherlands (the Caribbean part of the Kingdom is also covered by the Dutch National Committee).
This means that you must comply with the following:
- you have the Dutch nationality
- or reside on Dutch territory for the past 3 years. Students from the Caribbean part of the Netherlands can apply through UWC Nederland;
- or you have been granted political asylum in the Netherlands.
- AND master the Dutch language, except if:
- you have recently been granted political asylum;
- or are a resident of Curaçao, St. Maarten, Bonaire, Aruba, St. Eustatius or Saba;
- or have Dutch nationality but grew up and went to school outside the Netherlands.
In case of progression to the selection days, all activities (group assignments and the interviews) will take place in Dutch. Exceptions are made for applicants who do not speak Dutch because they have recently been granted asylum, come from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom or have Dutch nationality and grew up and went to school outside the Netherlands (see bullets 2a, 2b and 2c above). In that case, the selection will be in English. However, candidates may be asked to carry out parts (partly) in Dutch or smaller groups, because there may be enough candidates or volunteers fluent in English.
Grades:
Grades must comply with the following:
- Grade average of at least 6,5/10* (vwo/gymnasium) or 7,0/10* (havo) or 5/8 or 4/7 (MYP/DP) on both the last transition/summer report and the most recent report.
- A maximum of 2 failed subjects per report card
- Failing grades may not be lower than a 5/10 for havo/vwo/gymnasium or a 3/7 for MYP/DP.
- You must have passed your English, math and Dutch on every report card.
- English, mathematics and Dutch are compulsory subjects for an application to UWC (with the exception of international schools where Dutch is not taught). We use these to test your general intelligence and reading comprehension in your mother tongue.
