Opportunities to Study at a UWC

The UWC is an education movement comprising international schools and colleges teaching the International Baccalaureate Diploma program. Students are selected from around the globe based on their merit and potential. Making education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures, all UWC schools share the same mission, ethos, and values. 

School locations: Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, Tanzania, Thailand, USA, Venezuela, and Wales. For further information, please visit [www.ug.uwc.org].

Scholarship awards (full and partial) are available for Uganda nationals or refugees who will have completed S4 or equivalent examinations by June 2022 (or earlier) for entry in August 2022/January 2023. Non-funded opportunities for study at a UWC are also available. Girl students are strongly encouraged to apply. Please note that applicants should be 16-19 years old by August 2022.

How to apply?

Applications, in the student’s own handwriting, should include the following four components:

  1. Personal introduction (300-500 words) describing what inspires you to become a change maker.
  2. Short essays (200-300 words) describing your leadership potential. Please include examples of your approach to leadership and experiences that demonstrate your leadership ability. 
  3. Short essays (200-300 words) describing your approach to collaboration. Please include examples of your ability to rally others behind a common cause, work in a coalition with others, and gather resources to support your mission.
  4. Personal reference from the school headteacher/principal, or a school teacher well acquainted with the student;
  5. Official record of S4 or equivalent examination results.

All the five (5) components above should be uploaded and submitted with the online application via the UWC Uganda Application portal: https://apply.uwc.org/prog/uwcug2022

Candidates with limited or no internet access can submit applications by post-mail to the address below:

Please note that all applications submitted via post-mail MUST include a cover letter including the following applicant's personal information: (i) Full name, (ii) gender, (iii) country and place of birth, (iv) date of birth, (v) nationality, (vi) physical address, (vii) phone number (both student's and parent/guardian's), (viii) valid email address, and (ix) source of UWC information.

Should you experience any difficulties with the online application form, do not hesitate to email info@ug.uwc.org. All applications must be received by Monday 14 February 2022. Incomplete and/or late submissions will not be considered. Individual applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible in anticipation of any delays in the postal service.
