Description

The UWC is an education movement comprising international schools and colleges teaching the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Students are selected from around the globe based on their merit and potential. School locations: Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, Tanzania, Thailand, USA, and Wales. 23 scholarship awards (full, partial and unfunded) are available for Uganda nationals and refugee students who completed S4 or equivalent examinations by December 2023 for entry in August 2024 or January 2025.

3 scholarship awards (full) are available for Uganda nationals and refugee students who completed S3 (or equivalent) by December 2023 for entry in August 2024 or January 2025.

Girl students are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be 14-17 years of age upon entry. Exceptions may be granted by schools on a case-by-case basis.

How to apply?

Applications, in the student’s own handwriting, should include the following four components:

  1. Copy of a valid photo ID (e.g. National ID / Passport bio page / Refugee ID / Student ID);
  2. Personal introduction (300 words): Think about someone you admire as a change maker. What qualities or actions in that person inspire you, and how do you intend to incorporate those elements into your own journey as a change maker?
  3. Short essay (300 words): Imagine you have the opportunity to collaborate with renowned experts in any field for a week. Who would you choose, and what innovative project would you propose to transform your community?
  4. Short essays (300 words): If you could have any superpower for 24 hours, which one would you choose? And what would you do with it?
  5. At least one (preferably 2) personal reference(s) from the school head teacher/principal, and/or a school teacher well acquainted with the student;
  6. Most recent official (school stamped) report cards: 
    1. If you completed S.4 or equivalent, provide S.3 Term3 report, S.4 Term1 & Term2 reports, and mock results; 
    2. If you completed S.3 or equivalent, provide S.3 Term1, Term2, and Term3 results.

All the six (6) components above should be uploaded and submitted online via the UWC Uganda online application portal.

Candidates with limited or no internet access can submit applications by post-mail to the address below:

All applications must be received by Friday 26 Monday 29th January 2024 (Midnight, EAT). Incomplete and/or late submissions will not be considered.
